The hunger games trilogy is based in  north america when a series of natural diastors brings everything into chaos until eventually panem arises a nation consisting of a rich capital and 13 poorer districts until eventually a rebellion occures and the results are the capital destoys discrict 13 and the punishment for rebellion was the hunger games every year on reaper day they would chose a boy and a girl between the age of 12 and 18 from each distict and put them in a areana the last standing wins and is returned and the disctrict that they are from is given food and other gift for the rest of the year.each of the discricts produces one thing for the capital.The story begins in discrict 12 which mines coal and is somewhere in the appalachians and probally the poorest.The main charchter is katniss.Her father died in a mine explosian and she has supported her sister and mother by hunting until the 74th hunger games when her sister is chosen and Katniss replaces her.the other person chosen is the bakers son Petta.when tranported to the capitol which is said to be in the rockies and trained until the games begin on the 1rst day the carrers (people who are trained most of their lives for the games) kill nearly half the people and take nealy all the supplies and leave the rest of the group starving and thirsty as the games begin.
