Tony Curtis was born with the name Bernard schwarts  in new york,new york in the bronx.His parents were hungarian jews that immigrated from mateszalka.He only spoke Hungarian till he was 6.his schooling was delayed because of his fathers work.Julius and ropert were his brothers and his mother once made an apearence in you bet your life.His mother and brother robert were diagnosed with a mental ilness.he was once moved to and orphange because his family could not feed them.His brother robert died when he was 12.


During world war 2 he was inspired by tv shows.he joined the navy and was assigned as a submarine tender aboard the U.S.S Prometheus He witnessed the surrender of Japan from a mile away.After the surrender he went to study at the dramatic workshop.It offered fencing and riding though he said at first he was only interested in girls and money.He was picked up by a talent agent.he said it was because he was the handsomest.he was placed under contract with universal pictures and soon changed his name to tony Curtis.


His first film was criss cross.His second film he played a rumba dancer in the city across the river.He played in dramas and comedies .he enjoyed painting as much as being an actor.It was a second career.In his last years he mostly painted.Saying i still make movies but i spend most my time painting.is works can be found in private galleries and museums.His works now sell for $25,000  a canvas.


He was married 6 times in his life.is first wife was A actess named janet.he said for a while we where hollywoods golden couple.He later said that eventually the goldenness started to wear off and they were divorced.he later donated large ammounts of money to charitys to restore hundreds of jewish cemetarys for the victims of the holocast.He made an autobioghraphy called american prince.A street was named after him in sun dale valley.




He died of cartio arrest on september 29 one day ago.His daughter which was also an actress Jamie Lee Curtis says this My father leaves behind a legacy of great performances in movies and in his paintings and assemblages. He leaves behind children and their families who loved him and respected him and a wife and in-laws who were devoted to him. He also leaves behind fans all over the world. He will be greatly missed..".(direct quote).he was in over 100 films.
